Dates with Alice

When CC turned 4, Alice's birthday gift was taking her to the mall to shop for a new bathing suit and go to lunch. It has become a tradition now, and CC really looks forward to it every year. And since Sweet Pea and Little Man are four, Alice wanted to start a similar tradition with them as well.

She took Sweet Pea to the American Girl store for lunch with our bitty baby, Girl Doll. (I gave Girl Doll got a makeover last week, so she could go to lunch with decent-looking hair and clean clothes.) Sweet Pea loved that Girl Doll could sit in a little high chair right there at the table, and she enjoyed her lunch and birthday cake (with no singing, of course). Alice said that Sweet Pea was the perfect companion, well behaved and full of interesting conversation. She even insisted on bringing cake home for her brother and sister.

It should be noted here that CC is insanely jealous of Sweet Pea's outing to the American Girl store. She announced that she wants to do that with Miss Alice for her birthday outing from now on. I said, "Fine, but then you won't be able to go bathing suit shopping." And CC decided that they should alternate.

Little Man's outing was to an aviation museum at the airport, which he loved. Afterwards, Alice had been planning on bringing him to lunch at Smashburger. But when he returned home, I was running errands and Julie was with the girls. Little Man told Julie he hadn't had lunch, so she made him a plate before putting him down for a nap.

I called Alice later, and she told me all about the lunch they'd had together. Apparently Little Man had a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate milk. Afterwards they'd walked across the street to get cupcakes from the bakery. And then when he returned home, he ate an entire grilled cheese sandwich with sweet potato on the side! What a little piggy!
