Last weekend, Memere and Pepere came to visit. Hooray! It's always fun to spend time with them.
The highlight of the weekend was a festival we attended with friends on Saturday. What an event! We even encountered Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Little Man was a bit star-struck, especially when Boba Fett let him hold a gun.
CC and Little Man held and petted a goose named Lily. Sweet Pea wanted none of it, but she happily rode a pony named Bubblegum later in the day. Little Man's pony was Geronimo, and CC's pony was Snowball.
Daddy and Pepere demonstrated the proper form for throwing axes at a wooden wall (but none of the axes stuck).
And CC had fun re-connecting with our friends' daughter: instant BFFs.
The rest of the weekend was mainly spent playing two new games that Memere and Pepere brought: Chutes and Ladders (my old favorite), and chess. Yes, chess! It's called "No Stress Chess" and it teaches little ones to play! Our kids love it so far. They flip a card at the beginning of each turn, which tells them what piece to move and how it moves. Eventually they'll phase out of using the cards, but for now they're already learning how the different pieces move. MJ enjoys playing chess, so it's particularly sweet to see him playing with the kids, and giving them strategy tips.
