Guys' Weekend

There's a big birthday for MJ coming up, and as a special surprise, I arranged to have one of his best friends from West Point, Calvin, come to visit for a guys' weekend. They still keep in touch, but hadn't actually seen each other in years.

I didn't tell MJ what we were doing, but on Friday evening I packed a suitcase and told him we were going to the airport. As we got closer and closer, he was like, "Is this for real? Are we really flying somewhere tonight?" And I just kept saying, "Trust me!"

Finally we arrived at the terminal, and I told him we were picking someone up. His first words were, "If it's Calvin, that would be amazing." But I kept my mouth shut.

After a little wait, Calvin came strolling up to us in the terminal, and he and MJ yelled and bro-hugged each other like crazy. Then we headed to Brett's house, where I dropped them both off for the weekend. Brett and I had previously coordinated a bunch of activities for them to do over the weekend: skeet shooting, going to a brewery, a video-game bar, and an awesome steakhouse. Earlier in the week I'd gone to Brett's house and left two air mattresses, sheets, pillows, blankets, and a not-so-healthy amount of booze. Cheers!

So what did the kids and I do with a weekend alone at home? Arts and crafts, bike rides, lots of pajama-wearing, science projects, and an impromptu fashion show that involved making the craziest combinations of clothing possible. Who won?
