Dino Exhibit

We toured a fun, interactive Tyrannosaurus exhibit at our favorite museum last week. And with the exception of some roar-ing sounds over the speaker system, no one got scared. That's a win.

Did you know that Tyrannosaurus Rex is just one kind of Tyrannosaurus? There are actually 25 types. We learned that there are four things that make a Tyrannosaurus unique: its teeth, nasal bone, feet and hips. These are skull models of some.

Nothing dinosaur-related would be complete without a fossil-digging area.

The whole exhibit was impressively technological and interactive, but this was the most impressive part. The kids could stand in front of this screen, see themselves, and watch as dinosaurs appeared on the screen "with" them. Small ones running around, large ones stomping, and even a small one getting eaten by a large one. The kids were a little intimidated by some of the larger dinosaurs -- even know logically they understood the dinos weren't really there -- but they loved the display and could have stayed there much longer. Sweet Pea figured out quickly to run for the hills when the camera started "shaking" to the stomps of huge feet.
