Sweet Pea had her first gymnastics meet this weekend! And -- thanks to Coronavirus -- it was a virtual meet. Similar to the kids' swim meets last summer, Sweet Pea and her team competed in their own gym, and were judged via Zoom. It was a raving success! I'm so glad her first meet experience -- however unusual -- was fun for her.
She placed in every event, and placed 4th overall for her age group. I was so impressed! Sweet Pea was proud of her performance, and reveled in the praise from her coach and teammates.

Score breakdown:
Vault: 9.25 (4th)
Bars: 9.35 (2nd)
Beam: 9.225 (5th)
Floor: 9.5 (3rd)
Overall: 37.325 (4th)
Spectators were not allowed, although they needed one volunteer to be the video recorder for the judges' feed -- and fortunately that volunteer was me. For the first time in over 10 months, I was able to watch Sweet Pea do gymnastics in the gym! I was beyond excited -- although because I was busy videotaping, I wasn't able to take photographs of her except during warmups and breaks in between events.
Her gym -- although very small compared to other gyms in the meet -- won 3rd overall, thanks in part to Sweet Pea's contributions. What a wonderful initiation into the world of competitive gymnastics!
