Water Park Adventures

Three cheers for Memere and Pepere, who treated the family to an overnight trip to a water park! Everyone had a blast, and I know we'll have these memories to look back on -- and laugh at -- forever.

While we were together, we celebrated Sweet Pea and Little Man's 9th birthday. They had specifically requested a "purple race car cake," so that's what Memere delivered -- in spades!

The kids were tall enough to ride every slide, including the Tornado, which immediately became the girls' favorite. Little Man rode it once (after considering it for several hours), and afterwards said, "it was fun, but I'm not doing it again." Hmmm ... that seems to be a theme with him lately!

But he loved the River Run, and probably went on it 30 times. Over and over and over ... the boy knows what he likes!

My favorite was the Tornado, but that's no surprise because I love adventure/thrill rides like roller coasters. The Tornado has a sudden, long drop, followed by the tube flying up the sides of a giant chamber. It thrilled me every time, but it also made me wonder How is this safe?!? But hey, that's part of the excitement.

To his credit, MJ loved the Tornado too, and rode it countless times with the girls, Dane and Hayden, and Braxton and Bryson. I will never forget MJ's long shout of shocked laughter every time we flew down that drop!

It was such a fun getaway, especially right before school starts. I'm so glad everyone was able to clear their schedules and participate! We had a last-minute scare with MJ's job, and the Patrick thought he'd have to work all weekend, but in the end, everyone was there. That's all that matters!
