It was a whirlwind of a weekend!
Saturday morning, CC had her second swim meet of the season. Unfortunately, no spectators or parents were allowed, so there are no pictures or video. However, despite her nerves and anxiety about going alone, she did well in both events: 50 meter freestyle, and 50 meter backstroke.
Saturday afternoon was the Army-Navy game, which did not go the way we hoped. We were devastated. But immediately after the game ended, CC and I left to go watch her friend Scarlett perform as one of the lemurs in a local production of Madagascar.
Bright and early Sunday morning, it was Sweet Pea's turn -- she and I left for her second gymnastics meet of the season. Her competition time was 4 pm, and we didn't want to drive home in the dark afterwards, so we made arrangements to stay overnight for a fun little trip.
Sweet Pea killed it. She was back to her old form, her struggles from last month forgotten. She was beaming and confident. Prior to the meet, she said, "I have a good feeling about this meet. I think I'll get a gold." And boy, did she!
FIRST on bars.
FIRST on floor.
FIRST overall!
An extra bonus is that her team took second place at the meet, so they have another trophy to add to their collection. Sweet Pea proudly bore it back home and will bring it in to practice this week.
We celebrated all her new hardware with a huge slice of Reece's Peanut Butter Cup pie after a late dinner. What a performance! (Although she was quick to point out it was not her best meet. She got three golds and the overall gold at one of her meets last year. But, I reminded her, that was at a lower level. She's silver now!)
