Irish vs Tigers

We made a last-minute decision to travel to Clemson to see Notre Dame come to town. The kids had never seen the Fighting Irish play in person, and ND is having a good year, so we figured it'd be a fun day with a good win. We set off a day in advance, to split the long drive up, and spirits were high.

It was COLD when we arrived at 8am -- in the low 30s. For a while we just sat in the car and looked around as the parking lot slowly filled up. MJ, Sweet Pea and Little Man got out to throw a football around for a bit, but CC and I stayed in the car with the heat blasting. Finally around 10 am it had thawed out enough for us to walk around.

The campus was nice, but our parking lot was a long hike from the stadium, and there were no shuttle buses. But we enjoyed seeing the sights and taking in the gameday atmosphere. By the time the game started, it was a gorgeous, warm day. We had fun for sure, but it wasn't the success we'd thought -- disappointingly, Clemson got the win.

But we enjoyed the atmosphere of a new venue (we'd never been to Clemson before), and Sweet Pea grudgingly admitted that the Clemson cheerleaders could tumble better than the Notre Dame cheerleaders. Then we had a ridiculously long walk back to the car, followed by an equally ridiculously long wait to get out of the parking lot. Clemson's gameday traffic situation leaves much to be desired!

The best part of the day was the drive home, when we were following the Army-Air Force game and Army won! That was a total shock -- Air Force was ranked and Army has not been having a good year, so we assumed it would be a bloodbath. What an awesome surprise! This sets the Army team up to win the Commander In Chief's Trophy in December. Go Army!!
