Go Cart Parties

For her birthday party with friends this year, Sweet Pea requested go-carting. I was happy to oblige: we'd never been go-carting before, but I've heard good things about it. She picked Charlie and Joni as her guests, and the three of them had a blast! We stopped at Chick Fil A for lunch first (a mandatory part of any self-respecting middle school girl's party). Then it was off to the races -- literally. There was so much shrieking and laughing! There were some out-of-control boys who kept crashing into them during the first ride (even damaging Sweet Pea's go-cart at one point, shutting down the track), so the staff kindly let them have the track to themselves for their remaining three rides. 

Charlie (maroon sweatshirt) was quite the responsible driver, being very careful around the turns and going surprisingly slowly. But Joni (blue sweatshirt) and Sweet Pea (short sleeves) were very competitive with each other! They whizzed around the corners and kept trying to pass each other. Everyone ended up out of breath, with huge smiles on their faces.

Little Man hadn't decided what he wanted to do with his friends for his birthday, but after he heard Sweet Pea raving about her party, he decided to do go-carts as well. He invited Brennan and Tess (I love that he's friends with a girl and doesn't care what anyone else thinks). Tess is a big NASCAR fan, and wore her Dale Earnhart jacket for the occasion.

We kicked off the party with lunch at Five Guys, and then headed to the track. It was a little more crowded this time, so they played arcade games between each race. Brennan (dark hoodie) was definitely the fastest driver, but Little Man (light hoodie) had a few fast laps, and he and Tess were neck-and-neck the whole time. 

Don't let this video fool you. It appears that they're going pretty slowly, but in real life, they were whizzing around surprisingly fast! And the go carts are electric, so it wasn't deafeningly loud, and there weren't any horrible fumes.

They all had such a great time! I think CC and MJ would enjoy this too, so we will definitely be returning as a family.
