Meeting Brien

MJ and I took CC to meet MJ's Uncle Brien today.  According to the staff members at his residential home, CC is all Brien talks about lately, so we were excited for them to meet in person.

Brien was waiting for us outside, as usual, and was talking sweetly to CC before we even had her out of the car!  He knew her name and that she was his great-niece (this was surprisingly impressive -- he usually needs a lot of repetition to learn new facts).  He showed CC off to any other residents that he spotted, and told us several times that he was lucky to have a great-niece like CC.

We took Brien out for lunch, and CC slept through the whole thing.  I woke her up on the way back to Brien's home to start feeding her a bottle (we wanted to take pictures when we got there, and if she hadn't eaten she would have SCREAMED for all the pictures!).  She ate half her bottle, then promptly spit most of it up.  Maybe that's what I get for feeding her in a moving vehicle?!

When we arrived back at Brien's home, CC badly need a diaper and outfit change.  We put the contents of our diaper bag to use for the very first time, changing her right on Brien's bed.  She had plenty of admirers peeking at her from the doorway, no doubt attracted by her yells (she doesn't like having her clothes changed).

Once she was clean and dry, we let Brien hold her.  He even fed her the rest of her bottle.  She was in very good spirits at that point -- she loves eating -- and gazed adoringly at Brien the whole time.  Then I took a picture of MJ, Brien, and CC together.  Wouldn't you know it -- CC looked right at the camera and smiled really big!  MJ and I don't even have a family picture with her smiling, yet she smiled a gigantic smile the very first time in a picture with Brien!

He kept saying, "There you go, sweetie," the whole time he was feeding her -- it was really cute.  Brien loves little children, and I'm so happy that CC will have him in her life as she grows up.
