Last week, Sweet Pea and Little Man had their (slightly belated) 2-year appointment. As always, I'm blessed to say that they're healthy as can be.
Sweet Pea, my littlest angel, is still tiny. No surprise there. She's 31.5 inches tall (7th percentile) and weighs 21 pounds, 14 ounces (2nd percentile). But the pediatrician didn't recommend I do anything differently. Sweet Pea's holding fast to her growth curve and meeting all her milestones, so there's no reason to worry. I'm happy she's finally broken 20 pounds, and isn't 0 percentile in height anymore!
Little Man is starting to get smaller, proportionately. He's always been on the short side, but his weight has been smack in the middle. Not anymore. He's 33.75 inches tall (38th percentile) and weighs 26 pounds 4 ounces (27th percentile). MJ and I aren't tall people by any stretch, so we're not too surprised. But at least Little Man's height and his weight are starting to balance out a little more!
They finished their appointment with two vaccines, including the flu shot for this year. There were tears, of course, but the crying was surprisingly short-lived.
For the first time, I found myself getting irritated with the nurse at our appointment. She asked some basic questions, like whether or not we'd switched to 2% milk (no -- although my kids only get milk at breakfast) and whether or not we'd started potty training yet (no -- I don't think they're quite ready yet). And when I answered her, she seemed a tiny bit patronizing when she responded, "We recommend starting potty training at two. And we usually start with 2% milk at two."
Well. We are not raising my kids -- I am. I've been through this before. I have reasons for doing what I'm doing, and I'm confident in my decisions!
