Pumpkin Carving

When we went to the pumpkin patch last week, we picked one large Morrison family pumpkin to carve, and let the kids each pick their own small (pie) pumpkin. And last night was the night for the festivities.

While MJ got to work scooping out what ended up being the driest, least goopy pumpkin I've ever seen, I gave the kids stickers to decorate their own jack o'lanterns. I call CC's "The Many Faced God." Little Man and Sweet Pea's pumpkins were decidedly more ... abstract.

After the pumpkin shell was empty, the kids each put a handful of pulp in Rory's bowl. Not too much -- Rory would eat every bit of it if I allowed her to, and I'd probably be cleaning up pumpkin puke in the middle of the night.

Little Man drew the eyes; Sweet Pea drew the nose; and CC drew the mouth. I "clarified" the scribbles to make them carve-able, and MJ did the knife work.

Ta da! They can't wait to light it up on Saturday.
