School Pictures

I wasn't going to buy school pictures this year. The photography company that handles our school pictures raised their rates, and now that all three of the kids are in school ... I decided there were better ways to spend $120. Plus I already take tons of pictures of the kids, right?

The day before pictures, a plea was sent out to all the parents -- the school desperately needed volunteers to help organize the kids for their pictures, process the forms and checks, etc. Naturally, I signed up to help. And I chuckled to myself about the irony of helping with pictures when I wasn't even purchasing any for my own children.

When I showed up to help, the photographers reminded me to put a large "V" on my children's order forms. "Oh, I'm not ordering pictures for my kids," I told them, a little sheepishly.

They looked at me oddly. "It's free," they said. "Volunteers get free photo packages for their kids."

I filled out three order forms in record time.

A few weeks later, I received these:

Nice smile, CC!

Looking good, Sweet Pea!

Little Man. Seriously. You have the most brilliant, light-up-the-room smile. What happened?!
